Regan, CMP and privatisation

Dear Sir,

I do agree that some of the demands of Left parties on subsidies are in fact harming the poor people e.g. LPG is used by middle class and rich people. There is no need for subsidy. By removing subsidy on this, Governement will be able to allocate that amount to some other welfare measures like primary education, health etc. Similarly, it is unrealist to say that prices of petrol and diesel should not be increased when the crude price in the international market has gone up. Left parties should realise this. But at the same time one should realise that just to encourage FIIs to invest in share market which is purely speculative, we should not sell our shirt and trouser just because they like it. We should decide what to sell and what not to sell. Disinvestment and privatisation is not the solution. The objectives should be redefined for PSUs and should be made accountable. Reforms should not be mindless. Our great reformist think that subsidy means doom for economy. Development without benefit to large majority is no development. It will be rather abberation. Our reformists should understand this. I would even say that nation is not let down not by poliicians but us
