Hi,
The blurred image is inherent in night mode. This is because the camera selects a higher exposure time(ie: it takes a longer time to take the picture). Thus if there is even a minute shake(which is unavoidable), the picture becomes blurred.
The best option is to use a camera stand while taking pictures in night mode.
In this article, only about the lowest and highest megapixels cameras are discussed but not about the mid-range cameras. I am not a professional photographer but it's my first love and I have used various digital cameras over the past 3-4 years. From my limited experience I can say, the picture quality not only depends on megapixels but depends on other features like 'Optical Zoom' (4X to 6X are good), 'Picture Format'(.jpg, Tiff etc) and 'Size Resolution'(use SQ1-1600X1200 normally) you choose. Though Nikon and Cannon are bringing new cameras with higher megapixels, they really lack on optical zoom power and their price is also not competetive, at least I can say it about US markets. So a person really want to buy a good digital camera with a price much less than Cannon and Nikon I would suggest him/her to go for Olympus. If he/she is purchasing Olympus-C765 or Olympus C-770, I think he/she will be satisfied enough with it's picture quality. If you are buying it for the first time, get a 3.9-4.1/5.0 megapixel camera, like the above two. But it's entirely my own view, ultimately you are the one to decide about the brand while purchasing a camera. So good luck for your new camera.
