Nice attempt of Star TV to get back into quiz limelight. But I must warn the organizers that they are trying to indirectly enforce a sort of burden on the kids. Kaun banega crorepati targeted all 20+ age group candidates, and that seemed to be ok as far as age group was concerned. The candidates now would be youngsters, who I feel, would neither understand properly the significance of Rs. 50 Lacs, nor would understand the plight of poor parents, who are forced to push them into un necessary competetion. Thanks.
Why is India such an English-centric nation? English is a foreign language and should be treated as such! Why not test them in their regional langauge? Why do we always have to use English in everything? Who gives a damn if they know how to spell in English or not! Such competitions are inherently biased towards city kids. Unless Indians give up their slave mentality towards English and the West, we will never go anywhere. We are retrograding people, not progressing. Everyday, every one of our languages is getting closer to extinction.

well there is no relevance of saying that English should not be used unless we can come up with an alternative way. there are problems with hindi as the national language because many states in south india do not speak the language. moreover it is not fair to impose a language just because it is spoken by a large number of people in India. so we are actually left with no other option!
I am confident my own son (age 11 yrs) would be able to surpass any kid of his age group. But there are a few critical questions I would like to put up to the organizers of this program. (1)What would be the language medium? My kid can speak fluent marathi. He has never got an opportunity to catch up with english, since he has been studying in a rural marathi medium school. (2)Who guarantees that there would be no politics involved in the selection process? (3) What shall be the criteria of selection if there is a tie between several kids? (4) Do kids deserve facing such type of competetion in such a tender age as mentioned in the report? (5)Have the organizers cared to include in their criteria of selection, physical abilities of the kids? If not, do they think smartness of kids has relation only to studies and G.K.? (6)Last but not the least, do the organizers only wish to "draw audiences" as mentioned in last para of this report? I feel that by announcing such a huge amount (Rs.50 Lac) as prize money, we are risking an un-necessary burden on our tender kids in the form of unwarranted competetion.
I always wonder, when shall we Indians realize the ULTIMATE TRUTH?
its interesting to see that in India , reality TV comes to hunt for the smartest kid!
being from India and studying in US currently i feel that theres immense respect for smart indian kids outside India..
but can someone actually judge the smartness of a 10 to 13 yr old child by the test methods mentioned? is smartness or intelligence limited to maths, language, spelling etc.......
i feel there is a lot more in children that what they would display in a competitive elimination process.
