Congratulations for your article. That was good research and down to earth. But I would like to give my point of view on the accession of Mr Paul Berenger (the "franco" Mauritian)to prime Minister. I am a third generation decendant of indian immigrants and I think the fact that a non- "indian" person being the prime minister is a very good example for the world. Because you have to remember that he was elected democratically (with an overwhelming majority) and that in the past he has not been prime minister only because (I suppose) of the colour of his skin and religion. I think that it is the right time for the Mauritian society to have their first non-"Indian" Prime Minister. Who knows we might be an example of democracy and meritocracy for larger countries. I still think your article was well written. Thank you for reading my message and I welcome any comments.
Interesting article, that throws light on people of Indian origin and the political scenario how it reflects on Indians across the globe.
More such articles will definetly bring to the fore the development required to help create an understanding and work for the betterment of closer ties among the Indian diaspora and Indian citizens.
I fully agree with you that there is a need of original ideas on this site. Well yes the grass is green on other sides but the reason is not the gardeners. Its luck. There is not much that can be done with the condition India is in right now. And whatever can be done is being done I feel. One must clearly understand that Indian growth cannot be more than China. China does not have democracy and rules are forced brutally there. But again North Korea is not better than China. If a country or individual is doing better than you it does not mean that there is something wrong with you. It can be something in geography or history. Can anyone explain why gulf countries are richer than african ones. There is only 1 thing that explains it. Its Oil. Which is just luck.
