by Dr. Jagannath Kalita on Dec 27, 2004 03:56 PM

The Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Assam is going to implement a World Bank aided scheme for shredding/destroying of Solid and Bio-Medical Wastes in all the districts of the state by which the wastes like plastic syringes, plastic sheaths waste sharps, needles etc. will be destroyed before its disposal. I have read the write up Global Praise for IIT-ians Design where a brief description is given about the shredding of Solid and Biomedical Wastes.
As we thought that the design developed by the two IIT-ians may serve the purpose for us so, a detail specifications etc. with its cost may please be mailed to my E-mail address jagannathkalita@rediffmail.com

Good job!

This is precisely the kind of practical innovation that IITs should foster. Innovations like these improve the quality of life millions times more than solving complex equations in tensor calculcus. Every IIT should make a mandatory final year project for the students to solve a real need in their communities or for India as a whole. Good job, Prof. Swaminathan and to your students Jain and Dutta.

Really its a great work by the IITians. But i felt bad that the rights has gone to HCWH though it was solely designed by IITians. In a big hospital it is common to hav electricity.. but hard luck...
Good Work IItians...
