Wash deposits on your car battery
by Tinku on Aug 05, 2003 03:56 PM  | Hide replies

I'm not sure about pesticides, but one can definitely use Coke or Pepsi to wash the deposits on the car battery. These deposits prevents the proper contact and hence create starting trouble. This can be avoided by washing the battery at contact points with Coke or Pepsi. I've tried this myself.

Dear Tinku

I think you might need to go back and take a beginner-level science

class. The reason you can wash battery deposits with coke and pepsi

is because of the low levels of phosphoric acid in these two drinks. In

the US, at least, they do list that as an ingredient. Car battery

deposits are the insoluble salts of the battery acid, and as any

chemistry student knows - you can often dissolve an insoluble salt

with an acid.

I see no reason why this is relevant to the issue at hand.
