It would be really informative if the details of the precautions to be taken by any traveller is made known. Further in case of the infection are there any details of the stages of the infection and any remedies which can be done to reverse the infection. The time duration within which the procedures have to taken would be really helpful. Further how reachable is a traveller to the panel of tests as suggested by SRL Ranbaxy
The test described by SRL is a panel of tests for few common pathogens which can manifest in SARS like symptoms except one that causes SARS. Thus if very test is nagative, then one can conclude that it could be SARS. Hence it can not be called as test for SARS. It is test by elimination. However in absence of a specifc test it is the only way. Some thing is better than nothing.
Good atleast SRL is thinking of setting up the panels but would be more beneficial if they could post the literature about what they do in those panel will be highly appreciable.
While having tests available for diagnosis for SARS is commendable. What the doctor fails to mention is that SARS is caused by Corna Virus which ranbaxy's test does not check for. It checks for Chlamydia and paramyxo neither of which cause SARS.Using the panic of SARS to drum up demand for a test useless in its capacity to diagnose the causative agent of SARS is cheap
