from this COVID pandemic for the average Indian and the average Indian politician, in my humble view are:

1. India had a visible Family Planning Promotion program in the 1970s. Afterwards, I haven't seen the focus. Bring it back. Media, please do this promotion constantly and for free, without waiting for govt to spend on ads. This will contribute to better availability and use of resources.

2. Political class, please, please, please - do not distribute freebies in normal times for your narrow political gains. Educate and encourage people to do hard work, earn their livelihood. No doubt, give freebies to the deserving - like old age pensioners, scholarship for students, free medicare to at Govt hospitals with better equipment, personnel and facilities. But no free cycles, laptops, marriage subsidies, dress materials, write off of loans. This will leave Centre and States with enough money to meet unforeseen contingencies like the pandemic.

3. Even AFTER the pandemic, the awareness of the need to maintain hygiene and cleanliness is inadequate. Social distancing is anathema still to most people as seen on TVs - common man and VIPs alike. I see many people still spitting on roads. Please enforce hygiene and cleanliness stringently.
