Sexual harassment

In PSU there is a women\'s complaint committee f where women can complain of sexual harassment. This committee consists of a female chair person,a female member from SC/ST,a male member (all employees) and a member from from national women council.
I was the male member. We examined six complaints.
In 2 cases it was a case of firing/scolding from the boss.The concerned complainers admitted that it was not a sexual harassment.
In one case the woman was in charge of an office in rural area & faced a GHERAO by the client due to unsatisfactory service rendered by her. It was not a case of sexual harassment. The lady was advised to make a police complaint.
One case was a of a woman officer going for out door work with boss. After spending a full day in an industrial area he offered to have some snacks. Later the management posted to another place not convenient to her. She complained that the boss managed her transfer for preventing him from a sexual demand. It was established that the boss was not at fault in just offering to have some refreshment in restaurant after a day\'s work without a lunch.
Two were genuine cases of sexual harassment where the concerned male employees were punished at the recommendation of the committee.
Pressurizing/firing by boss is a part of job & one should not term it a as a sexual harassment or of harassment due to cast(Atrocity)
Of course if found guilty of sexually harassing a woman he should be punished to maximum extent.

I very seriously feel a stringent law to protect women at their work place is very much required. Wrong doers should be made to face sever punishment. Males should be asked to sign a legal contract to this regard. If women start leaving their jobs due to sexual harassement the country may loose valuable talent and it will definitely be a blot on the development of the country.
