There is no need for any panic on sparrows ...
by Nalin Kishore on Mar 24, 2019 10:04 AM

They thrive in thick growth of bougainvillea, a very easy to grow and hardy flowering plant which most of us know about. Bougainvillea has thorns which prevent cats and other large predator birds from attacking sparrows, and sparrows are able to move through them because of small size.
*
Those who want sparrows to come back one of the things to do is to simply plant bougainvilleas on ground (not in pots) in corners of parks, along boundary walls and so on. Let it grow thick and one day you will find chirping back ...
*
Global warming, loss of habitat and mobile radiation is all bunkum as far as sparrows are concerned ...
*
I have stayed in Delhi/Noida for the past 12 years and have seen sparrows thriving wherever thick hedges/bougainvillea is present ...
*
No need for despair, they are not going to be extinct ... Cheer up ...

Last time when I visited Rourkela Steel Plant (Odisha)I was staying at SAIL's Guest House. The building of Guest House is nested in a well developed garden and my 3 days stay in December,2013 helped me to have a view of this chirping bird called" Chidia" in North India. I do not recall when I have seen this chirpy bird in Delhi for past few decades. Now, I'm 73 years of age and wish to be at a place where it is visible in India. If it is visible in Chandigarh/Panchkula?
