I think westerners are a bit tired of the stinking South Indians - so are we. No offences but truly the smell of coconut oil is simply too much to handle, I always had to hold my breath whenever I find someone using coconut oil in hair.
The professor would not have tasted the oil nor consumed it so far . This is a story to promote some other product which is the handiwork of the multinationals like monsanto who are spreading the seeds which are not reproduc tive
If her concocted article (perhaps written at the behest of some vested interest) is to be believed, the entire population of Kerala (India) would have died long ago. No one seems to be interested in writing what the American foods which are canned and sold across the world cause to the human beings. Do they have the liberty to kill ? Tell me if by not consuming Coconut Oil anyone can live for ever without dying?

Some years back, there was a similar propaganda in order to market the palm oil. Coconut oil has been consumed by millions especially in Kerala with no harmful effects for generations and it is ridiculous to say that it is poisonous.

Harvard is a hot bed of politics, especially left politics. Remember how they removed Dr Subramaniam Swamy because of his rightist views. This talk on Coconut oil is pure and simple mischied. In a country where high cholestrol is first declared harmful and then the decision reversed, coconut oil has been taken for killing this industry. No coconut oil , then no coconut too, so destroy the coconut trees too. India should not heed this mischief.

yes this is a bigger mischief after the diabetes spam by these multinationals for making money
Best brains in the country are primarily from South of India where predominently Coconut oil is consumed. As per Late Dr BK Goyal, president of Cardiologist Ass. of India for upteen numbers of years Oil produced with local crop is the best for use among that area habitants and in all respect if one can afford Oil-Ghee made out of Cow's milk then it is by far the best. For people who cannot afford Cow's Milk Ghee-Oil then the second best oil is Til ka Tel/oil extracted from Sesame seeds. Presently there is euphoria about the use of Olive Oil by big european producers and marketing companies here in India. One should understand that our's is primarily a tropical country where not much of the area id under cold weather round the year and therefore oil extracted from local crop is the cheapest and the best option for human being living in that area. akhilesh Chandra
If this had been true than Keralites would have been on the verge of extinction. It may be true for their genomes. However, nature has provided Indian coastal areas in abundance woth Cocunuts which means Indian should be used to it whereas Germany is in minus so coconut is hardly seen. For them suitable oils may be as per their geography.
These research findings are flawed as geographical location, climatic conditions and ethnicity of the consumers were not considered. It is easy to condemn eastern food habits and promote unhealthy western diets such as corn flakes.
