Well I recall few incidences on this issue; 1.My friend in Delhi, from Tamil Nadu ,was going on leave to his native place. I just asked about the purpose. He without any hesitation told me that the visit was in connection with start of these monthly cycles of his daughter ,there would be a celebration and daughter will be given gifts by the family and pray for her happiness in the family life. 2.In early ninety's I was in Malaysia for two years and became friends with a family where husband was a Malyali and wife was from Tamilnadu. They would very frequently use the terms "Attaining the Age" for beginning of the Monthly cycles and no remorse. In fact they say that they plan to have a good celebration when their daughter attains the age in near future.
3. Where as in North I had a different experience that everybody was very tense when the young female member of the family attained age.
It is high time to have a positive & scientific outlook over subject, this would give renewed confidence to half the worlds human population .
