sir, earlier our homes have small space where sparrows can live and make family.younger ones have protection inside our homes. As todays world is a kind of concrete jungle these sparrows are forced to leave our homes. These sparrows are vulnerable to minas, crows and few other birds.due to competition for food these bigger birds eliminate sparrows eggs. When you encourage these sparrows near our abodes they have chance to multiplicate. At one point few years back when I am living outside the city I encouraged them by placing boxes to encourage nesting.14 eggs, nearly 7 to 8 sparrow families survived with babies. For your information,I will provide another example,I put DIsh Antenna box where it has 2 holes on 2 sides. Two families started living in the same box by entering from different sides.Four small babies came after few months.I never did anything 2 them.Just i never disturbed them. They enjoyed my company.

The above story reminded me of old days, when sparrows were part of every body lives. We used to stay in old Hyderabad city. In my father's room the sparrows created a nest in between wooden rafters in the roof. My father used to enjoy their presence. But when breeding time came the birds started creating nuisance by collecting grass, leaves etc to built the nest comfortable to lay eggs. Cleaning fallen pieces used to be a problem. Fed up with the nuisance, he got the nest removed felt relieved but thereafter he used to feel guilty of uprootihg them. When children used to cry parents used to say 'open dekho chicho' See up the sparrow Now we miss them so much.

I miss these sparrows. Use to see them when i was a child. Now, because of mobile phone towers and waves they either died or flew away.
Poor NCR- Earned millions, lost life.

This is not only due to electromagnetic waves but major reasons are loss of nesting sites due to new building structures and food as insects specifically for chicks because of loss of native flora having fascination about planting exotic and non-native plants.

Huge amount of concretization has left little exposed soil and sparrows thrive on insects which survive on loose soil. I feed pegions in my house balconies and get a few sparrows too.

pegions are increasing in populations and creating many health issues. Pl dont feed them. Their high populations also main reason for reduction of native bird species including sparrow, crows etc. in Cities.
