But....that alone does not mean at all that Kerala is as unsafe as the land of the barbarians (North India) !!
Take a good look at the crime statistics of Kerala and those of the different barbarian states. They are available on the website of the National Crime Records Bureau.
Even after discounting the fact that crime reporting is far better in Kerala than in the barbarian states (where policemen routinely turn away or even threaten and abuse complainants to keep their workload low), the crime rate is far lower in Kerala !!!!
And cleanliness and personal hygiene ?
Ever spent any significant length of time with North Indians in general ?
Unless you are ignorant about the tenets of hygiene yourself, you will know very well that Kerala is, in general, the cleanest state in India by a big margin.
