The government will be spending around Rs 10 billion towards funding the institutes of eminence. Let us hope that the yet to be born Jio Baby of Modi-Ambani couple will be born the soonest.

how do you justify the below statement "JIO institute is better than IIT Kharagpur" because JIO has got Eminence status without being in existence and IIT Kharagpur is worse despite a stellar track record ? stop being a bhakt. Have you studies the income disparity in India, it has widened with each passing year. How come riches are becoming extreme riches and poor becoming extremely poor ?

A chaiwala/& illeterate Modi gives Eminence certificate to Jio institute which is on paper & plan- very bad luck for Indian people.In the long run this Jio institute will take over most of the private & govt institutions.

some of the responses already received are self-explanatory and the whole country will no doubt supports them. The only principle to be understood here is that Reliance/ Ambani is certainly able to hire any well known teacher/ professor by paying double or treble salaries/perks etc. Hence, they talk with such pride and confidence. But that is bad ethics for the country and for education about which Modi just cannot have adequate comprehension. All such things that have been done during pst 4 years need to be reappraised and quashed wherever necessary in the national interests. That seems to be the only remedy for saving ourselves from the chaos and destruction of values in our nation.

An academic question: Is it not possible for the richest people in our country to buy out all the requisite number of MPs and then become the PM of India? Is something like that already happening in regard to things like the "Eminent" institutes?

It is ridiculous to offer Institute of eminence to an institution that does not exist can happen only in India..... Only logic can be that the members of the so called "Eminent" committee are looking for a plum job in the green field institute...!

It is understood that Reliance/ Ambanies already own/possess very substantial chunks of national lands, oil fields and other wealths and naturally that has made them multibillionnaire status. Their hospitals are described as the best ones, their institutes are classified and recognized as Eminent even when they do not exist. What is missing here? The important factor of benefit to the society, its poor and the entire nation, not a few elite people who will be capable to afford those services. That is missing and Modi is totally silent about that.
How come whatever Reliance Does gets approval from the Government even before the begin. Jio got great advantages in the Telecom field and now its University has got a tag even before it has Certainly needs rethinking
