Yoga - a fad indeed ...

Not sure if we should thank this government for 'supposedly' making Yoga India's ticket to the world or feel sad that another pristine characteristic of India has become so heavily commercialized so much so its lost it exotic touch. It was one of the purest forms of India's way of life and was anyways being practiced in the world irrespective of the push from this government, thanks to the many Yoga gurus who had already made it fashionable and exotic enough much before we had a government which wanted to make this achievement of these wonderful gurus, their own. Wish the govt focused more farmers and the poor than spend so many billions on promoting this as their achievement. So many self-proclaimed stars have made this their new way of earning name, fame and yes, lots of money. Most of them tweak it to such extremes that the founder of Yoga, if there was any one, squirm in his / her grave. Most of it is glamorized and yes, thats what makes it lucrative for the media - celebrities and their different styles of so-called Yoga. God save this wonderful institution of ancient times of wonderful India.

out of every 10 yoga practitioners are women in heavy make up !

This is the inescapable conclusion that can be drawn from the heavy coverage of yoga in the media !
