Whoever be, knowledge is limited as well as learning, understanding and thinking. Learnt is handful while unlearnt is bigger than world. Any decision taken by any leader or any govt may become faulty after some years, as the world changes every minute. Gandhi's decision could be taken depends on the situation prevailing during his era. But certain general facts remain for ever like - non-violence, love one and all, importance of education, social justice etc. Normally the society does not speak bad about a dead and good deeds are being spelt.

However it could be noticed - to survive in the society with no conscience people used to praise the POWER THAT BE

Gandhiji was a politician, he was president of National Congress. He definitely had some political goals and compulsions. Whatever he did might be right or necessary at that scenario.

Not surprising. This comes from Indian origin America from the creamy layer of the castes who have monopolized the benefits of reservation. They are the champions of the caste system and want to make it a permanent feature of our constitution.Their guilty conscience makes them abuse their benefactors.Gandhi's campaign against untouchability is ample proof of his real feelings. His fight for independence in which he wanted the support of all ,including the dalits ,was a noble cause. To accuse him of selfishness is being mean and petty and indeed a very distorted way of looking at things.Pointing to failings of a community does not imply that the person is against that community. The festival by providing such opportunistic persons looking for publicity, forum to speak , does not send good message to the people at large.
