Sir, perfectly agree with your analysis. However, to add to it is the changing socio-cultural scenario and the changing value systems. The current generation seem to be thinking that they are entitled for whatever they desire (and often not deserve) and keep chasing an endless dream of what all, I am not sure! They are not ready to weather the initial storms in a career and keep quitting instead of realising that you have to discover your happiness wherever you are(this is also frequently seen in their other spheres of life). Also adding to the trouble is the selection criteria that looks at the aptitude and not the attitude of the person. another noteworthy mention is the society's equation of 'success' as matter of materialistic/ positional gains
