To face sudden loss of job, a person should constantly up grade, keep good relations with pears and associates, invest wisely and have at least a years expenses as buffer. Their best weapons are their skills and capability to execute and implement policies. They should also keep an eagle's eye on happenings in the organisation and should take preemptive action by searching jobs before the employer boots them out. Survival of employee is equally important and any employee should own up this responsibility and know fully well that this cannot be given to anybody else.

Management give such employees at least sufficiently early warning that their services are not to be continued after a certain date. While the suggestions given are nice the employee going out should be given a breathing time to face the retrenchment so that sudden suffocation would not occur. The terminated employee if agrees could be given an option of receiving his terminal benefits in six or twelve post dated cheques that would ensure a money flow on a monthly basis and prevent the employee binging on the terminal benefits.
