The future of Indian classical music lies in experimentation
by Sunil Dabadghao on Mar 26, 2017 08:07 AM

We should not shy from experimenting within the confines of the rules, not just in Indian Classical music but also in Indian dance forms. What is really good will be appreciated and will stay, grow and enrich the Indian classical performing arts. Imagine the period when the transistion from ancient Dhrupad to relatively modern Khayal happened. Has not Khayal gayan given a greater expanse and wider audience to the North Indian classical music ? We need some more experiments to bring in South Indian music into the mainstream North Indian Classical music.
