Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru wrote in his book that his father was a mediocre student who had rough and tough friends. Considering the present day political scenario, the middle class might prefer their next generation be like Nehru family to grow mediocre student with rough and tough friends to help political career that needs no good quality at all for winning elections.
The quality of a big chunk of students passing out is pathetic. As a small businessman in Chennai, I have interviewed many freshers - inevitably, almost all of them have arrears in their subjects to clear, do not know even the basics of the course they have done, have very poor communication skills in English and worst of all they don't care. They believe that if they don't get a job, their parents/ family will take care of them.
Take the case of NEET, where Tamil Nadu wants exemption for its State Board Students. Why ? Because over 95% of the Students will not get admission if merit was the criteria.
NAAC has played a big role in improving quality of education Institutes in India. Their grading system has forced many institutions to upgrade their infrastructure
The NAAC grading system in future should incorporate skill building initiatives.

When Inadia produced good students? Barring a few 100 hundreds in a decade.A good majority stayed aloof from the mainstream of socio-economic domain. Few functioned in limited area and most confined themselves to their line of specialisation. Otherwise 1. Partition India could not have happened with such devastating violence spread over a decade. 2. Progressive corruption in India from 1950-2014. 3. India gradually slipped on on all economic and social parameter counts from 1950-2014, except on few scientic and elite education system.
