If IAS officer is your ultimate aim, why did you go abroad to study engineering wasting someone's money? Is it 'coz it just came on your way. With the money you've so far spent on you, at least 20 needy students would have been benefited doing their graduation.

According to an analysis done by the late Praful Bidwai, engineers have the greatest chance to clear the civil services examination.

INSTEAD OF ENCOURAGING HIM, WE FIND MANY NEGATIVE COMMENTS, OUR COUNTRY IS LAGGING BEHIND BECAUSE OF SUCH NEGATIVE THINKERS, WHO ONLY DISCOURAGE OR PREACH HATRED
...is still begging. He got assistance and opportunities which most people outside developed nations wouldn't get. There are definitely many other unfortunate people who deserve help more than him.

I agree with Pulok Mukerjee's view that Mr Jayavel has wasted money.By this time he would have completed his graduation and ready for IAS exam.

GAINING KNOWLEDGE IS NOT A WASTE, ALWAYS HELPFULL. HE WILL DO WHAT COURSE, HE LIKES, NOT WHAT U SAY, WHO ARE U TO TELL HIM. IT IS HIS WISH. DONT DICTATE, LET PEOPLE DECIDE FOR THEMSELVES

if he wants to IAS then why he is studying Automobile engineering , he can do any degree and appear for civil services
Jayavel's story will defiantly inspire many who read the article "He begged once".I really appreciate the "Suyam" an NGO, who were the first people to change a beggar to an Engineer. It is an eye opener to many, especially to wealthy politicians in India who can spend a small percentage of money from their looted wealth may really erase their sins.

It is not about his engineering degree, it is about giving him an opportunity to experience a different environment. We cannot provide equal opportunity to every one but at least keep the torch of hope glowing by supporting some. It is to say we can dream big no matter where we come from.
