I would ask all ladies to eat as much they want on karvachauth. Why is this applicable for females only...by itself this ritual is doubtful otherwise keep fast and enjoy ur day and don't fall in any debate.
The true meaning of Fasting is misconstrued. In Sanskrit its known as Upavaasam. Meaning Upa- Near, Vaasam - to be. So fasting does not mean to remain hunger and for something. When you are intensively involved in any work or activities including Prayer s, your mind is set in achieving the goal and does not get diverted and hence does not think of food or water. Evereybody is following their own culture..do not talk about only Hindu rituals...our cultural rituals are made for each other..if you have guts talk about other religion's rituals and cultural practices...
While it's true that sacrifice for other's cause may grant you that, fasting once in a while will increase only faster's longevity. Not the partner's. I hear on many radio stations this morning the same topic.It's not a noble idea to stir-up things between husband and wife just to gain a temporary popularity.
