We discover ourselves only after foreigners recognize it
by Jayaprakash Balan on May 05, 2017 02:37 PM  | Hide replies

Its a shame and sad truth that we Indians discover the beauty of our land only after foreigners recognize and appreicate. And even the Govt. or local bodies are not ready to maintain or spend money in not allowing these true nature gifts to be spoiled by commercialization. Thats because we Indians do not value and appreciate the value and worth of those simple villagers who according to me are the most patriots towards our country and nature because villagers hardly spoil any place or exploit for their own benefit and they live with what nature has given me. Like a visit to Haj for devout Muslim or a visit to Pope land by Christians, for every human being in this world a visit seeing the entire India should be worth because nature has gifted India things which no other place in world has.. But still, alas we would spend lakhs and travel internationally and see foreign countries and boast of those places, we would hardly think of visiting the untouched beautiful places of India and even if we visit, we would definitely spoil the beauty of that place by wanting those places and people to change by becoming like us. The biggest culprit in this way is our PM, Modi. In the quest for his ambitions, he has blatantly announced development of 100 smart cities when actually he should have planned 100 smart villages. These 100 cities are going to spoil the beauty of villages in terms of concretisation and other developmental things destroying nature.

When you have a constipation please blame Modi. This is the fashion nowadays. Let us see if you have the guts to live in a village for a lifetime. All the new rich will go to these places for a holiday, but cannot live there for a lifetime. They will get bored...Someone needs to foot the bill and to enjoy the tourist attractions you need to pay. This is done by working hard in the cities. What is wrong with smart cities. it is to make the roads and infrastructure more convenient to work for guys like you who have bred like rats and caused huge population. So stop blaming Modi for each and everything in your life.

Kerala is magical!
by Venkatesa Prabhu on Dec 24, 2016 05:31 PM

I agree with the author that this is probably very magical. But having covered almost all of central and south kerala by road, I can say that there are scores of others. There is nothing in the article to justify as to why this island was selected for this ranking. Probably it is the home of some Keralite with connections to National Geographic and links to the likes of the RAW Chief (who himself went to fetch a chair for the wife of this author) and scores of other Keralites. This is not to run down Kerala or Keralites. The state is absolutely beautiful and so are Keralites ... never mind the contribution of CPI, CPI(M) to make the state notorious for its unreasonable labour attitude. Keralites are the best workers anywhere in the world outside of Kerala and every employer, outside the state of Kerala, will vouch for it. The reason for this islands selection still is to be ascertained.

Just an advertisement

I do not find anything special about it. There is not a single sunset photo for which so much hype was created in this article. There are dozens of places in Kerala itself from where sunset will look beautiful and when whole of India is considered then there are thousands of such places.

is indeed scenic and captivating. But so are several other islands and islets in Kerala, some even more so.

What comes through more in this account is hype rather than anything else !

"Hype" is when too much is spoken more than what's deserved. The article is very specific about what's special at Kakkathuruthu. There may be other islands and islets in Kerala which may be more beautiful. The article doesnt say Kakkathuruthu is the most beautiful of all. There is no "Hype".

Piri is absolutely right. The article is just a paid advertisement about a hyped place, masquerading as an independent article.
