I have also not visited any ATM. even I always use card for any transaction since last 10 years and vary rarely use cash, for buy vigetables or milk only but this is not everywhere. 90% population of India lives in village and there is no swiping machine or Even ATM. if people need to withdraw cash from ATM then they have to go 10-15 KM. This is reality.
PM Decision is good for currency demonetization but its temporary solutions and nothing will change. very minor effect you will see in result. Rest of thing which people giving example is all bull sit. India not ready and don\'t have infrastructure to go for plastic money. Govt telling people to use card because they are siting in Capital where every shopkeeper having swipe machine, every 100 Mtrs ATM, Internet connection to use swiping machine etc. You cannot take any decision based on city infrastructure. Its very imbalance time. Govt must need to do homework and built infrastructure before implementing cash limitation for every transaction.
Otherwise Govt need to ready to see again same trend which has happen 2004. After doing lots of good work BJP-Bajpayee Govt has lose in Election because that time also Govt has focused for City development only and they were forget village completely and same happening here.

No body supports cashless economy. In villages people need cash, which will be circulated in near future. Even in my village of 5000 population, there was never rush to withdraw money. People like us with withdraw cash required for next month once in a month. How come opposition realized that worker goes regularly to the bank. If he has work with the bank daily when does he go for work?
sir, we have to go to sulabh toilet in the bus stand there also the government has to provide the swiping machine. talking non sense in this country is very easy. You can be cashless if you are very rich. all the hotels are booked(High room rent hotels) taxis are booked on line this is not possible with common man since he has to see small hotels where they demand cash only. Make it a law that all people(traders) should have swiping machine before demonetization. Chinese have done better than us. regards ramesh

Perhaps this article is paid one.And Rediff is always concentrates and moves around ONLY METROPOLIS living people.Try to know and know how Rural India is living and sustaining inspite of very hard and harsh conditions. There are lakhs of people who hasn't visited banks/ATM even in rural areas.Remember that INDIA has wide population across rural india who hardly know about POS terminal/atm's.
I am a retired bank employee. My family, consisting of my wife, son and self have just six 500 rupee notes. I am not in a hurry to exchange it as there is time till 30th December 2016. So how do I manage? I use credit card, net banking, e-wallet to make all payment except to small traders. I managed to withdraw Rs.10000 in 100 rupee denomination from the Bank with the sole purpose to share them with vegetable, milk, fruit vendors, meat shop etc who may be feeling the pinch for this denomination of currency. So fellow citizens spend and circulate your money; this way the shortage will not be felt.

I hasn't visited any Bank since November 8 to exchange or deposit even a single 500 or 1000 old note in the Bank. I have used only small notes and coins at home to run the home affairs till 25th of Nov., 2016. Peoples in lakhs has managed the affairs like me. Nothing is unusual in it.
