Vegetarian food with eggs and fish is good for health than beef. So, the Muslims should thank the BJP govts for banning beef.

Professor Anoop Misra is either not a dietician or perhaps, he doesn't know the different between a vegan and lacto-vegetarian diet. A vegan diet is that in which only and only vegetables are consumed. Jains and too some extent strict Brahmins, though have their own principles with respect to consumption of certain vegetables and non-consumption of some foods in some seasons, are basically lacto-vegetarians because they often consume rich dairy products - sometimes more than an otherwise vegetarian person! Therefore, as far as their vulnerability to the diseases caused by high protein, high fat diet is just little low, as compared to non-vegetarians. However, there strict fasting schedules on particular occasions help them get detoxified better than other veg-nonveg persons. An ideal vegetarian diet for better quality health is that, in which the consumption of dairy products is controlled (or should have low fats), more of greens and the use of right type of oils as advised by a dietician or family physician. I have seen couple of jain friends suffering from hyper-lipidaemias, ischemic heart problems in the age as low as 40 years, which further strengthens my vieww that more than veg or no-veg, it is the proportion of right nutrients that works.
