This article is not only interesting but quite true. I was inspired by a book titled "Managing your Boss" by Chris Hegarty and it made for very interesting reading. I practised a few suggestions and found them to be very true. I also passed on the secrets to two friends in managerial positions, one in an MNC and the other in a desi durables company. The latter friend achieved his promotion within a span 2 months, something which had not been considered for nearly 24 months. And he beat his fellow executive to a newly created position. The other also achieved similar laurels ... except that the former being an MNC, it was more or less on the cards. By putting to practice some of the ideas, the MNC executive grew faster in his subsequent promotions. We also know of a lady executive who applied the same principles to scale great heights in a global FMCG major.
The horrible hoss today is often an "insecure" one trying to save his/her job / benefits, in an extremely dynamic world.
There is nothing to manage here,,,. just a quick analysis of whether there is hope or not. if there isn't, one is better off to manage things on their own.
