An Italian lady (from a humble background!) can become the most powerful person in India. It can happen in India only.

Certain things about which Indians should be ashamed of:
by Dilip Kumar Mukherjee on Sep 14, 2015 09:37 AM  | Hide replies

1)Differential treatment of boys and girls in society.
2)We are busy in managing our own affairs even at the cost of the country.
3)We are not interested in building a civilized
world around us consisting of disciplined people.
4)Our many filthy rich people do not want to create
employment for young people.
5)We are not interested in creating a country with 100% educated people with at least a high school as their qualification.
6)We are not serious about creating a corruption free society.
7) We are not interested in a political system where one has to first win an election within the party to fight an election at any level. The culture of giving a ticket for fighting election is not democratic. This has come right from the time when Mr.M.K.Gandhi did not accept the victory of Subhash as President of Congress party built brick by brick by freedom fighters and destroyed in one stroke by Mr.M.K.Gandhi.We are more interested in knowing why Subhash had to leave this country than what happened to him afterwards.
8)We do not hesitate to glorify a corrupt person.
9)We do not feel like publicly objecting to a wrong act by an individual or group.
10)We are not ready to accept that we lost our political freedom due to our own weakness and mistakes.

Agree vehemently with the last point; Indians look for loopholes in infiltrations of British colonialism and use them as scapegoat technology for their ever-lasting escapist attitudes and tendencies which never seem to decline in post-modernistic society today. FULLY AGREE WITH ALL OTHER POINTS TOO; KUDOS

Political power

We Indian should stop encouraging politicians , we should be able to question the validity of the politician. We should find some way to check the progress card of our ministers and monitor their wealth. Every politician becomes rich with one term as MP or MLA, these tendencies should change. On economics if any major decision like pay commissions to the employees the Govt should get the referendum and get the real people suggestions. The parliamentarians should not fight like dogs in the parliament , at least they should give minimum respect to the speaker. India will not Jugad they should have clear cut view what they are doing with clear planning.

I think a politician who wins from a seat should not be allowed to contest from any other seat next time. Then he will get some respect for his constituents.

Absolutely correct! I only add that if a Primary School teacher's son can build an industrial empire like Reliance Inc in a single life time and a fisherman's son can become a scietist, rocketry expert and President of the Republic of India, there should not be hue and cry about lack of opportunities in our country.Talents ultimately find their way.

WELL.....Dr. Kalam wa sgreat but the other case you cited need debate. I can show scores of cases where talent has nto reached its zenith and wrong people being rewarded[one case is a Bharat Ratna, who is a scientific don].

Also, he says percussion instruments like Thambura and Sarod !? Who taught him music by the way !
