Release of Locked Land.

One of the way out is release of land locked in slum property and old dilapidated buildings. Government should give incentives to the interested builders and also set a target date for each property packet for redevelopment. If they do not do it voluntarily they should be rehabilitated to Virar, Palghar, Panvel, Ambarnath, Vasind, Badlapur etc in government build flats and the land will be compulsorily released only then will they understand the urgency to take a decision on appointment of developer for their slum redevelopment. In case of the old buildings also the government requires to grant higher FSI and make it attractive to the developer and set deadlines for redevelopment to the tenants. Increase in FSI en mass through out the city is also required to redevelop buildings build about 25 years ago this will also increase the housing stock in the near suburbs. It is a fallacy to think that increase in FSI will put extra load on the city infrastructure in reality the living standards will be better and the population now living in slums and small houses will be able to stay in better houses as human beings.
