I know there are jobs available outside Mumbai.Again I am here not emphasizing on the job that I should get in Mumbai only.Since I lived and born and brought up in Mumbai I wanted there,Everyone wants job where they are born and brought up. But working in Industries for several years I saw that all the industries are just shifting their base to other locations.I am sure there are thousand of young researchers who want the jobs in Metro cities.Every one has their family problems and some personal issues but not everyone can relocate and that everyone are many in this country.I just want to impart the message through this segment that R & D sector is just slowly vanishing from India.I can go and find a job outside mumbai sir. Why government are not making all the facilities and jobs in their state only. Why all the North peoples are forced to come to metro cities or metro cities peoples change their job locations. Government can open industries in every state and give employment to young scientists in there state only and they will not have problem to relocate.

I agree with Anand\'s observation and respectfully disagree with Guddu\'s remark. The govt cannot open job positions in each state and each city. If you have opted to take care of your parents/look after family problems (and there is nothing wrong about it), you have prioritized your personal life over your professional life. Now you can\'t throw darts at your professional life by saying that jobs are not available. In today\'s day and times where jobs are scarce, we need to adapt and take the necessary steps to look after our career. And if it means that we should move out of our comfort zones - we should. And if we cannot do that (say due to personal reasons), we can\'t blame the system for it.

Jobs not available !!
by systems technologies on May 23, 2015 09:00 PM  | Hide replies

I read this story of the young man, PhD in material science. On so many occasions, I read "job searching in Mumbai". My only word of advice is that, the young men should be ready to move from their place, if they want good jobs and exposure also.

Dear sir, I understand that relocating can solve my problem in job searching. For example, what one can do if his family has been living in one city and they cannot move since he is the only child and have to see their parents as they are old. Then what one has to do.I am not making any personal excuse to relocate but since many industries are shifting or closing or do not have R & D firms people like us face problems and they have to just work as operator in any QC lab or in plant.

Just spending on R&D by govt will not help
by NAGRAJ KV on May 23, 2015 05:00 PM

Sir,
I agree that R&D should be given importance by right investment. But the model has to be worked out. At least in india whereevr govt has spent there is no result. take IISC, DRDO, NAL where govt has spent and you yourself can see the result. So investement by private organisations in R&D may help . Govt can encourage by giving tax rebate etc..

Thanks rediff for publishing this.My main agenda was to give importance to R & D in any industry that is totally diminishing. Yestraday, Mr. Amit shah in an Interview with aajtak (aajtak Manthan) also said ki there is an need to boost R & D in India. Now the question is it will really happen or n0t or this government will also do the same talking which earlier people were doing. While I was doing PHD I found that there is less tie ups between University and industries to promote R & D. This area can be boosted and with this freshers like chemists and science fields can come forward and there will be good opportunity for them. This will really help for young researchers..

Amit Shah, PM & President always say that "Youth must work, R&D must improve, we must make in India etc., but what action do they take to ensure that what they say is implemented? NO Action. IAS Officers takes notes like primary school students & also make action plans. Ultimately only plan and no action. If you love your future, write a letter without Stampe to Germany, US, China or Japan and they will send not job but also Air TKT with job & all perks, in your field If you love India, just wait for achche din till they reach you.

Job expectattion.
by Wilson Fernandez on May 21, 2015 06:39 PM  | Hide replies

It is true Mr. Modi has promised many thing. Reality is definitely something different. I think even at this stage, it would have been nice if BJP and PM Modi try to scale down the hype. All right thinking people knew election promises and subsequent noises cannot be taken into the face value. I think many of us got carried away and thought Mr. Modi has a magic wand as we live in the age of dreaming and also for quick results. It is good for all of us to come down to earth and realise Mr.Modi is not a magician. Things will take a long long time to see some improvement. By writing the plight of job seekers, if any of us think something great is going to happen in India, I think we are then living in a fool's paradise.

PEOPLE GO FOR HIGHER EDUCATIONS AND EXPECT THE GOVT to beg other countries for them to get jobs -- / Also MATERIAL SCIENCE All IS standards / american standards/ etc are available for ready use / there are also methods invented for converting one metal to other in Alchemy . what more research do u want to do -- the world runs on demand and supply -- and majority of steel industries are in Jharkhand or chattisgarh / where iron ore is mined out for steel creation -- What is there in Mumbai -- it is only a commercial capital mostly meant for commerce as many industries have moved out to be realestate prices .

You are not getting the point what i am saying. I know many steel plants are in India and also mining and many other base industries are in india.I except that. The point is I want to say that R & D is slowly vanishing from India and whatever I know R & D is an Important part of any industry. If that is not there there is no industry.Only there will be just purchasing products from outside and selling at higher rates in India. Bullet trains, Nanotechnology all these have come from outside. Why Indian government is not investing a huge money to create jobs in R & D and develop new innovative things here in India only. Why Bullet train was not invented in India.Because all over other country they just invest more for R & D.

To create an enabling environment for job growth , the govt needs to create economic zones that come with good connectivity for movement of raw material and finished goods... So everything boils down to land and the party that is solely responsible for the backwardness of the country won't allow the bill to be passed...so where from the job growth is going to come..? R.Baba needs to answer
