Exams in English Only
by Gaurav GUPTA on May 18, 2015 03:30 PM

The IAS /UPSC/ Other Civil Administrative service exams are being dumbed down by allowing them to be answered in any language other than English.
What use is not having an officer who won’t be even able to string together a decent letter in English nor will he be able to understand files that have been passed down from higher ranking officials.
Some files that he may come across may need analytical skills, ability to understand basic law, ability to have a grasp of technological breakthrough and also he might be needed to carry out detailed discussions with peers, superiors and those who have applied for the project.
Such Semi Educated Officers would go on to become the laughing stock of the department

Supreme court has given just judgement
by Aftab on May 14, 2015 12:26 PM

We must feel pride in our mother tongue and national language. A feeling has crept in our mind that those who can speak or write good English are better than those who are not so good in English.

The present government which received huge mandate from Hindi heartland took decision that would have affected them most. It was a decision taken by imperial mind.

Good that supreme court has rectified it.
