Mandu was known as Mandavadurga when ruled by the last Hindu king Baz Bahadur. There is a pavilion named after his queen Roopmathi among the several structures spread over an extensive area. Mosques, palaces, markets, tombs, lakes and gardens built by successive dynasties can be seen. There are stories associated with each construction whether it is Jahaz Mahal, Ashraf Mahal or Hindolam.
