YOU ARE PERFECTLY RIGHT..ON A SECOND THOUGHT NO ONE KEEPS UNWANTED PEOPLE..MAY BE THEY ARE AFRAID OF YOUR TALENT WHICH IS THREAT TO THEIR OWN SUPREMACY ON THE OTHER HAND THEY NEED YOUR EXPERTISE AS WELL..
so basically what the writer is advising is that you need to lump the appraisal because THE BOSS IS ALWAYS RIGHT. and in public sector more RIGHT. Basically I also agree with this view; in India it is hard to find a job you love; you got to love the job you get. and then most of persons need to cling on to that job.
Start Creating Daily report of your work for your own, even if it is one liner. at the time of appraisal meeting that's the best tool you have for your support. most of the time it happens employees don't know or don't have what to show or say.
so start writing your own report daily, keep it aside and show that report to your manager once in a while.
how to do it : create a folder in your outlook : say daily reports. send emails to that folder about your daily work.
