Well Said, 10 to 15 years emp salary may be of 15 Lakhs per annum normal coder (fresher 1 or 2 year exp) will get 4- 5 Lakhs per annum No one IT company will ready to offer coding jobs to middle manager even though they are fit for job.
It is just like milking cow with steroid injection for 10 years milk in 5 years and slaughtering the cow once it become less productive. ultimately the cow's life span is brought down by half Now the same story with IT Employees When business is there, companies hired pool of graduate irrespective of their major subject/domain when there is no business they are firing the people out. THERE IS No MEANING in saying learn doing CODING TESTING , AND TECHNICALLY FIT AND ALL. "In western countries even 50-year-olds sit and code" This is pure um-mature statement it is true for developer of new software(R & D)( whether in western or India) Not for the application developer who develop some forms and implement the business logic in available programming tools only by copy & paste or customization of some software for localization.
THE TRUE FACT IS These IT COMPANIES EXPLOITED THE YOUTH & ENERGY (the fire inside the youth for achieve some thing I their career) AND THEIR LIVE WITH CHOCOLATE HANDSOME PACKAGES AND RUINED ACTUAL ENGINEERING FIELD BY STEELING FRESHERS IN OTHER ENG. FILED
Government and Labor union should inter-wine and impose some recruitment rules and job security to IT Employees
MAMTA & KEZRI TYPE PEOPLE ALWAYS A FEAR TO INVESTMENTS.
AS THESE KIND OF PEOPLE ALWAYS OPPOSING INDUSTRIALIZATION AND PRIVATE COMPANIES, JUST FOR THE CHEAP PUBLICITY AND THEIR PERSONAL AMBITIONS.
THE ARE REALLY HAMPERING DEVELOPMENT. & RESPONSIBLE FOR CURRENT UNEMPLOYMENT. CAN ANY ONE TELL THE FIGURE - HOW MANY PEOPLE WOULD HAVE EMPLOYED IN TATA'S NANO PLANT IN WB DIRECTLY AND INDIRECTLY ? AND HOW MANY PEOPLE WOULD HAVE GOT INCOME FROM SPENDINGS OF THESE DIRECT AND INDIRECT EMPLOYEES.
in the Indian corporate world that is stuxpid enough to truly think that having the designation of General Manager is much better than an extra Rs. 50,000/- take home salary per month !
Unlike western countries, indian IT industry started as services industry.Ofcourse there are many companies who do product based in india. But the companies who create employment for the average skilled engineering graduate are from the services IT industry.Over the years, they created this pyramid structure and made sure that everybody fits in somewhere. But oflate when pressure comes on the margins, they try to shed the flab where middle managers are easy target.High level managers who involve in bringing projects are not affected because their duty is earnings addition and junior level engineers who do coding and testing is output what client wants. In india, when i was still senior software engineer after being 6-7 years of IT experience, one coworker question still rings in my mind - is your performance so bad that you could not become technical lead(next position in the pyramid). Our great IT industry created this pyramid in employees mind that getting higher designataions for every few years is a must.Instead it should have concentrated on how they can motivate employee to create value for the company and to the employee itself(win-win).Now it is biting its bullet and this is the course of correction which is unavoidable.Hope everthing ends well.
But who will give coding and testing work to a 10-15 years experienced IT professional. In India, if you do not do work that is expected out you, (say 4 years resource should be a team lead), then the appraisal is simply screwed up. What is happening abroad is not what happens in India. The disparity in pay in western countries and India is also a reason for layoffs of middle management people.
It is simple. Suppose a long term employee gets 15 lakhs per year and a fresher gets 3 lakhs. The money saved is 12 lakhs. Suppose 10000 such seniors are thrown out, then the money saved is 1200 crores per year. That is how the stock prices rise after hearing a good performance QoQ.
