One more tricky question
by anand datar on Jan 28, 2015 03:16 PM

As my company was not doing well nor was it giving salaries to employees in time, I was in search of a job. I went to a reputed MNC in Mumbai for interview. The technical interviewer passed me in his interview as he found me suitable for the job. He then called the HR head and told him that he has selected me. Then Both of them accompanied me to the CEO for his approval. The CEO asked me why I was leaving my current company. Before I could answer the Technical interviewer intervened and told him that his company is not doing well and employees' payments are irregular, since I had already told him so. On which the CEO said "that means tomorrow our company also may not do well, so you will leave ?!" I was speechless ! Didn't know what to answer ! Ultimately I was rejected by him even though I was selected by the Technical guy !! Later I came to know from some other employee of the same company that the CEO likes loyal, long serving employees !! So, be prepared.

These type of questions are asked to know your reaction or response to the unexpected moments!!! Not to know the General Knowledge. Its a kind of risk and disaster management questions which smart people understands the purpose of these questions.

These questions only help with ego of the Interviewer/CEO.

They are not just irrelevant, but will result in hiring of wrong candidates.

That is what HR is all about - misleading candidates so that they get nervous, commit errors, thus paving the way for them to be rejected n then only those candidates earmarked by either directors, management, supervisors or pets (chamchas/lays) to be selected.

You are not in production or manufacturing industry. Why do you get in to overtime work? Either you are not competent enough to manage your job within working ours or you deliberately look for overtime.

Your complaint itself shows that you are not a sensible employee!!!!
