Gregory Peck was one of the most talented actors in Hollywood. I enjoyed every one of his films. Many Indian film actors tried to copy him.

The novel is not a dark, morbid story but is essentially a tale of warmth, humour, courage and hope. The US society has since moved on far ahead with a black now occupying the White House, something that was unimaginable at the time the novel is set or even at the time it was published in 60’s. Yet the novel does not seem outdated. Rather, it reinforces underlying hope and belief in human dignity.

Things werent rosy even in the 60s, though not as bad as was depicted in TKMB. The (in)famous Rose-Montgomery incident happened as late as 1955.
