by on Dec 08, 2015 10:17 AM  | Hide replies

the writer is confused between discipline and corporal punishment - there are not the same. a slap is not at as great/effective as the author would like us to believe and discipline is not handicapped without its use.

(1) Corporeal punishment is not a possibility - it will create Dawood Ibrahim type people... who grow insensitive to their pain and the pain of others.
(2) What's required is building awareness amongst kids - of what actions which hurt other people... School should take these kids to orphanage and old houses or slums and show how people are living without fans - to realize the value of fans.
schools should not fix the fan and let kids spend a few summer days without fan so they realize the value of it!
(3) Physical punishment to kids less than 9-10 should be seen as breaking law. Its going to create psychotic kids which will create greater mess for society.
(4) Punishment should be of the following types: Ask these kids to write (relevant) essays and recite in front of class, pay up twice or thrice as much as the cost of the fan, may be ask them to stand up and say sorry to the class for what they did for a month,
(5) The kids who are disciplined at home are the ones who are required to be disciplined at school and other places. Look at my daughter-never raise a voice to her or forget about hitting and give loads of affection and she is the most kind, considerate and well settled kids i see amongst all her peers.
(6) Rediff - understand this simple message - to require a change you need to instil awareness and not fear amongst kids.
(8)Publish meaningful articles-not controversial meaningless ones to the detriment of the society!

I wonder what these teachers have to say about students who commit suicide after being scolded by their parents or teachers?

Disciplinary action by school should be approved by government.
by Sanjay Tomar on Dec 08, 2015 08:10 AM

Disciplinary action can be taken by school should be published in Dairy given to student, Notice board of the school. Hence teacher will not blame for any disciplinary action taken against student. Student should know if they do something wrong in school what action will be taken against them will minimize the disciplinary action taken by school even parent should also must aware of the punishment is student done something wrong. These action should be approved by government authority will not create any objection in controlling the student by anyone student or parent. School must have some control on student but school should not allow misusing the rule against any student. Tollfree number can be issued by government for any school related query to avoid any harassment on student & their parent by school.

Same story everywhere. Mostly parents are to be blamed. They have no time to take care of kids and have too much money at their disposal. Along with mobile, wifi, films,TV, mms and what not, youg minds are going astray. But without discipline anything achieved in life? Hard lesson will be learnt by them in future.
