The quiz was so simple that even I scored 10. To be called a whiz, the quiz has to be much tougher. By the way, English is a foreign language for almost all of us Indians. If we are able to convey the intended meaning even by using wrong English, our purpose is served. After all, English language is a medium of communication for us non-English speakers. There is a view that Hinglish, which is the Indian version of English, should be respected as a medium of communication, its bad grammar and syntax notwithstanding. Remember, language belongs to the people and not to a handful of grammarians and professors. Also, when grammar and usage are in conflict, usage prevails. However, I feel it is worthwhile to be able to speak and write correct English.

the usage of the word revert as shown in the sentences is anyway incorrect. but even if you consider it is used as 'reply', then in that case, there is nothing wrong with 'revert back' which incidentally is marked incorrect

Still then revert back is wrong because I will reply is correct, I will reply back is wrong.

there is nothing wrong with 'revert back' only maybe a little less formal, but for the matter..the whole 'revert' usage to mean reply is weird and stems from an incorrect and junk application of its real meaning to revert to its original form. ..of course i never write such crappy letters where i use revert to mean reply , so it makes no difference to me either way.

Usages like revert back, return back, reply back, etc are wrong. Revert and return are supposed to be used without back. Such usages are not just informal, they are WRONG.

I know many organisations, which after interview, tell the candidate " We will revert back to you", you mean to say all of them are using "GRAMMATICALLY INCORRECT" English?, it may be informal but not WRONG.

If you get letters from many organisations with wrong English, it means that you can get a job there without knowing correct English. It is the people who write letters in any organization and they can be wrong. In most cases, some lower level official types and senior official signs without bothering much about small mistakes.
Since when has answering such lallu questions started to be considered a whiz feat?! Even my daughter who is in 3rd standard could answer all correctly.
