Dear formerly taklu, Bengali-style is Bengali style; and the style has to be Bengali since it is named 'Bengali style'.

I am explaining from which angle it is, Mr. Maity. 1. By and large only Bengalis fry the fish for making fish curry. 2. bay leaf, cumin and red chilly 'phoran' (nearly burn in hot oil specific spices/ ingredients - in this case bay leaf, cumin and red chilly - initiating Bengali style of cooking) is used only in Bengali style of cooking. 3. Process that follows till end, very well is Bengali style - may be little modernism influenced here and there. She deserves appreciation from Bengalis at least; because Bengali young ladies now a days would endure second-degree burn if venture to fry fish in oil.
