It is an eye opener. A matured mind on a young person. We have to learn from him a lot. He is one among the lakhs of lakhs students inspired by Dr APJ Kalam.
I would like to know more about how you r going with this. I live in Chennai and do u have a branch here where I can contribute in times I am free. I cannot spend the whole day but can chip in whenever I am free.
However I just have a point for Mr Padmanabhan regarding wood. Wood is one of the main ways of reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. As most science students know, wood is nothing but 99% hydrocarbons water. Remaining 1% is other minerals. Hydrocarbons in a tree is produced by photosynthesis where carbon dioxide from air and water from soil are combined to form hydrocarbons.
So for every 100 kg of wood, at least 20-30kg of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere is consumed and stored int he wood. So long as the wood is not allowed to be burned or decayed, the carbon will remain trapped in the wood.
So basically if we want to reduce amount of carbon dioxide in the wood, we need to grow more trees and use the wood for furniture, etc. The more carbon that is locked in the wooden items, the more carbon dioxide is reduced in the atmosphere.
However wood waste (from old furniture, etc) should never be burned. If it is burned, the carbon dioxide will again be released into the atmosphere. So waste wood should be collected and burned in a power plant to generate electricity. That way even though carbon dioxide is released, it reduces the amount of some other fuel used for electricity generation (coal, gas, etc).
So Mr. Padmanabhan, please don't think of cutting trees as a problem. Its only a problem if the trees are not replaced. In fact it would be beneficial to use more and more wood (except for burning) and grow even more wood than used
Mr Padmanabhan..You are doing splendid job. Hope that many INDIANS including myself join this revolution of NO WASTE FOOD. At least we could bring some change out of it..Great job done bro!!!
