at the end of ten years most entrepreneurs, who do not have a core competence, tend to fall by the wayside and get on the wrong side of the law. Even well established and well qualified professionals fall in this trap ... Goldman Sachs, Ernst and Young, Satyam, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Enron and numerous similar stories prove this.
Enterpreunerial skill to be nourished ,despite discouragement elders ate too careful every idea of business model faced resitance within family ,but sticking to dreams in career efforts
Ha ha ha. Yall had computers. I remember getting friends together to sell firecrackers during diwali, kites before sankranti, getting comics from five and distributing it among 30 others on rent. It was fun. I could never become an entrepreneur and now there is no time to do it, nor any ideas. But it was fun while it lasted. It is left to you techies now.

if your dad has told that you will fail one day, but to become successfull, a bit amout of failure is a must. which you have proved it that nothing is difficult to achieve success.
Seems like ours is the same story. just that you actually started something in class six .. i didn't. still haven't the disapproving looks and sarcastic laughs are enough to stop me from doing anything. i am giving all the entrances this year for engineering ...worst part is i have done well in academics all my life.. so now when i won't get through anything people will probably die of shock. can you help me out here? My dream is to own my own chain of luxary hotels and interior decorating stuff. at the same time i am very good at writting(the creative kind) and also i love music( but i can't play anything. and i sing moderately well) i want to have my own magazine. i think its because i am so confused about what i want to do that i can't start. can you help me see whta i should do?

@Rrizzle...if you are confused, you will not be able to make any way in entrepreneuring. You need to stop and think which work you love the best in doing and which is the one you can't live without doing. Then focus and go on persuing the dream. You need to have a single dream and the courage to persue it and you should not expect to crack the entrepreneur code and be a millionaire in 2 years time. If the answer to the above points are negative, then better look out for a comfortable job.

The IT Research is more of talent which requires less investment in money terms. The success stories in IT cannot be copied to other areas of Research which require huge investment for a successful launching. Unluckily, the failure stories do not find a place in the Print Media but can only be seen on the streets and in many cases experienced by the DADs. My Dad was a successful entrepreneur and saw the heights of achievement, but died penniless worrying about the future of his nine children. You cannot stop an entreprising soul but DAD cautions you of pitfall and prepares you to get up and walk when and if you fall.
