Re: Pizzas Burgers etc

For longer shelf life there are chemicals added in it it has worst effect on many human organs...Do simple experiment...put a Indian Roti uncovered and observe how much time it takes for ants or birds to consume it...and do the same with pizza or burger ...Animal has greater acute sense about food and poision etc..
While there may be some health benefits of eating the old way one needs to look at the overall benefits that the modern age has delivered. Earlier people in their lakhs used to die of diseases like small pox, cholera , TB ...ad infinitum. Have we forgotten the great plagues of Europe which virtually wiped out London? Also had it not been for modern technologies food in such abundance would not have been available to such a large population. Have we forgotten the Bengal famines? This article is nothing but an attempt to take us backwards when the fact is that the life expectancy has gone up substantially with modern medicine and food availability. People are living healthier and longer lives. I recall that in my grand parents generation a person was considered old at 40 while now people have started saying that life begins at 40. Earlier people did not even know what blood pressure was so we cannot say they did not suffer from high BP. Now one can measure BP at home so one has come to know that the condition exists. The writer is purveying outdated theories with a fossilized mindset.

You didnt understand what the article has to offer..and its ok! atleast you read it.. Life expectancy was high during our ancestors time ..And that doesn't meant your grandparents we are talking about few centuries back...Now ppl may live longer but uglier,sicker...Yes this technology created BP measuring machines and food industry has created hyper or lower BP causing junk food..Plagues of Europe , London etc Europeans spread most all diseases to south Asia, America, Latin countries...People inclined towars western outlook think Indian (ancient civilisation) way of life is wrong..believe me or not now western people admit in private that they were wrong..I leave in US for last 2 decades..Many americans are turning towards India and indian lifestyle including food ....Read the article again and just try to take it positively even if you disagree it all..because someday you will agree/experience it ...Sooner is better...Best wishes..

Hi dear...is it "I leave in US for last 2 decades" or it should be "I live in US for last 2 decades"..though i respect your support in the favour of the article but how can you make such simple spelling mistake if you are living in USA for decades..its just not acceptable..can you please explain this?

BS article. There is no proof that the incidence of cancer was not high earlier. Also look at the life expectancy 200 years back vs now. The writer has very cleverly avoided giving this data.
corporates/MNCs have contributed negatively towards our health as far as food industry is concerned. even the supposedly freshest fruit juice will be heated so loses vitamin content and contains preservatives which is health hazard
other sins of the corporate world are use of hydrogenated fats, cheap refined oils, chemical preservatives, allergenic substances like sulfates, excess use of fructose and refined sugar, phosphoric acid, caffeine in colas, the list is endless
Congratulations Rediff. Now come out with a series of articles on health benefits of various Indian food ingredients that are being used in India cuisines for ages such as Ginger, Garlic, Onions, Curry Leaves, fresh Coriander (Dhania) Leaves, Fenugreek Seeds, Cumin Seeds, carom Seeds (Ajwain), Asafetida (Hing), Sesame seeds, Flax seeds etc. all these are great health foods that we have started ignoring due to the western influence on our eating habits.
