HMT will always be in our hearts. Long live the legacy.
by ravi thawani on Sep 13, 2014 12:11 AM

HMT will always be associated with the great Indian watch making tradition. It is very sad to learn that we will no longer be able to buy those watches. In a way it is shame for every Indian who instead of accepting "SWADESHI" are crazy about Gucci, Citizen, Tag etc...What quality watches and what great name brand was it once upon a time. It used to sell like hot cakes. Very sad and tragic end of a great watch Indian brand. Not to mention how many peoples have lost their jobs and how many families their bread. If I had the money I would have bought this brand and made it a world class product. Anyhow, everything which comes goes and which goes comes back. HMT will be back for sure. It will always remain in our hearts.

HMT was merely asembling imported parts
by Reportabuse on Sep 12, 2014 06:30 PM  | Hide replies

HMT never made a full Watch indigenously ..iots watches were merely assmbling of spares from imported pieces ...yes in India even Titan also makes CASE only and all parts r importted from japan or China now .....HMT merely a assembly unit ..as BEML merely assembles Tatra Trucks and sold to Army ....cheap watches sold at higher prices in the name of Swadeshi garbage .....

Yikes, the shouting hurts my eyes! What a HOOT! Go SCREAM it from the mountains over the hills and everywhere.. And seriously, how hard is it to push the caps lock key to turn caps back off? Is that how important politeness is, that it's not worth hitting a single key?

Nothing in this world is perfect. Even brands like Apple, Nike, Levi's, Rolex etc....have issues.
