main motivation of becoming IAS is opportunity to earn bribe money. Everyone knows there is no accountability on govt employees specially public servants they do all type of illegal acts. There is no transparancy in govt spending and no one can ask questions. so this provides golden opportunity for public servants to earn bribe. otherwise salary of IAS is earned by other professionals also. You will rarely see that any inquiry is launched against govt officials to know how much property the own if disclosed correctly everyone will dream for IAS only nothing else. they are public servants just for name they are real masters on whose tune public dances.

You have not dealt with other govt. servants, even a constable, a peon in court, a clerk in municipal corpn, a clerk in ITax etc., all take bribe.
