Our English is right
by Aditya Deshpande on Oct 10, 2014 10:50 AM  | Hide replies

The world believes in democracy. India is the largest English speaking nation in the world, therefore the correct English is what is spoken here. Eventually, India and China will decide how English will be spoken and it will contain smattering of Chinese, Cantonese, Hindi and Tamil words. Live with it.

Indian women
by Sandhurst Rhode on Oct 10, 2014 10:37 AM

This article does not mention how Indian women try to "feminize" English to portray they are "still" "innocent"!

Here are some observations ..........

1. Using "Ya" as punctuation!

2. Using Bharat Natyam Mudras while speaking in English to add "humility" and "child-like character" to what they are saying!

3. Directly translating what they want to say in English from their native language! Grammar be darned!

4. Saying things like "I am offing the light and fans"! Please sweetheart, there is no need to go all Italian Mafia on these amenities!

5. Intentionally speaking with a "local" accent so that they are not perceived as bed-h0pping w1tch35 with some nasty vice like smoking to boot!

6. Literally singing when they speak in English to sound "sweet" and affable!

And the worst ...........
7. Whining and complaining in English while murdering every rule of English grammar!

Mr and Mrs?

Re: Mr and Mrs?

Explanation is as follows ......

Mr and Mrs Smith is the way Americans refer to a married couple with the "last" name Smith!

Americans are the people losers in Indian media w0rship!

As in any rel1g10n, it is blasphemous to question what the entity being w0rshiped does!

Secondly, Americans are close relatives of the British because they have same ancestry and both are WHITE!

If anybody can officially murder the English language it is the Americans!

This is the reason why inferior, brown-skinned Indian people cannot say Mr. and Mrs. Iyer but WHITE American people can take any liberty with the English language they want!

I thought they were proclaiming English to be an Indian language
by Sankrant Sanu on Oct 10, 2014 07:27 AM  | Hide replies

But the rules must still come from the Angrez?

The example of "real sister" is a strike against culture. For us, even "cousins" are sisters or brothers, Western civilization has this sense of distance 1s, 2nd, 3rd cousin.

You want to turn the country into a Western country?

speaking correct English does not mean changing our country to western.
English is communication language.so everyone should know this. If you criticizing this, then why did you learn this language.
Think before you write.

Why are you talking for the whole country? I don't feel the same. A brother or is the closest relation you have and a cousin is a lot more distant. Do you call your fathers / mothers bothers / sisters as father / mother too? Why double standards there?

I find it totally confusing when people refer their cousins as bothers. Even if you call them "brother" you can refer to them as cousins. This is especially funny if you consider Indians(Muslims all over India and Hindus in South India) marry their cousins. How do you say that in Indian English - I am getting married to my bother / sister?

We have a lot of things to fix before we "turn our country to into a western country" - Stop spitting on roads, urinating in public places etc to start with. So stop living in fantasy world and get real.

So according to you Englishmen are good in English because they don't spit on roads, don't urinate in public places, etc?

The concept of real or biological father or mother can happen in a society where the only definition for the word 'love' is to date and mate. Don't think India needs to advance to that level.

Don't forget, western countries or Englishmen are rich because they looted us for centuries and are still the main reason why there is so much trouble around the world because of their arms race.

another common one
by abhinav jain on Oct 10, 2014 06:59 AM  | Hide replies

usually everyone says and also writes as "try and" together but the correct way is "try to".

because try and do will make it 2 actions. try to do means 1 action.

but where the action has happened we can use try and.

like we all try and fail.... we cannot write there we all try to fail, it would change the meaning.
