German Language in India
by canath on Nov 26, 2014 05:00 PM

A section of media doing wrong propaganda about Govt decision, can any one confirm any other country teaching Indian language officially, no, options available, similarly any one can learn any language of his interest privately, I learned Russian in Russian consulate, Chennai during mid 70's. Govt encouraging foreign language in schools is like insulting our own culture and tradition.

What percent of Americans and UK people learning foreign language
by srnvs san on Nov 26, 2014 04:58 PM  | Hide replies

1. What percent of Americans and UK people learning foreign language?

2. What percent of German people learning foreign language?

What a way to fool people.

If any body wants to learn they can learn at their own expense. This article exposes slave mentality and foreign languages are superior.

Very Good

Very GOod. Similarly everyone else who wants to learn German must do so in their personal spare time and at personal cost for tuitions.

No one should expect taxpayer money to subsidize learning of German.

Former PM, PV Narasimha Rao spoke 17 languages as per wikipedia. Surely everyone can learn their preferred foreign languages as the 4th language onwards..

From Wiki on PV Narasimha Rao
"Rao's mother tongue was Telugu and had an excellent command of Marathi. In addition to seven Indian languages (Telugu, Hindi, Oriya, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Tamil and Urdu), he spoke English, French, Arabic, Spanish, German and Persian).[16][17] "

is german banned?
by zhatu on Nov 26, 2014 12:40 PM  | Hide replies

Media acting as though German is banned in India. anyone who likes foreign language, can he not learn the same from outside? Why should govt of INDIA teach German as is regular curriculum? Those who talk of global appeal, should also stop learning Hindi, bcos they will also not get any job outside by learning Hindi...

And for the matter they do not even have to go outside to learn. It is still available in optional foreign language slot. I do not think every Indian has to learn German, French et than learning One's mother tongue, English, Hindi, a few among kaleidoscope of other official languages of India. Let us not forget , that learning foreign language for interacting with foriegners and appreciate their culture should not be at the cost of learning, appreciating and contributing in one's own brothers' & sisters' language which is physically spoken just a few hundred kilometers from your place.
