She is the Indian equivalent of Malala. Though if we put things in perspective, Malala has faced more challenging circumstances just to get the basic education. But in any case, wishing her all success in making her dreams come true. Religion, economic status are irrelevant in a person's achievements. And the day that both of the aforementioned are rendered irrelevant at the individual level will be a crowning moment for Indian history.
So what if her parent is a dishwasher? It has no bearing on what Fatima is capable of achieving. Instead of the derogatory title like 'dishwasher', couldn't you have used something like 'economically disadvantaged girl' or 'hard working girl achieves IIT success despite economic background'. Why focus on the parent's profession, with such terms? Poor reporting Rediff.
Congratulation Fatima, you did the excellent job, even though there is no educational back ground in your home. New NDA Govt. should implement the reservation policy only on economic basis, so that poor and deserving open category students including Muslims could get higher education of their choice.
