we used to buy ticket of 5 or 10 paise expecting to get one of the prize on display. The cricket bat was most sought after but it used to be hanging there till the last ticket was bought . Then it vanished ! Very exciting . then our 15-20 group watching test cricket in school uniform at our home TV only to find dad already there to welcome us with latest score.. ! wow what a day , then 1983 world cup sitting in same place(superstition) and eating milan supari for every windies wicket that fell ! great day

Oh, the pen friends. This was in vogue those days, we used to be so fascinated about. Thrilling, eagerly waiting for foreign letters. Waiting for post man.
It was a decent era with decent people. All the messages in this discussion board of persons belonging to that era is a testimony to this. Their language and decent thoughts reflects this. This is unlike of the present generation which uses foul language on any topic on this discussion board-whether they have any knowledge about the content or not.

You are so right, Mr. Ali!
It was the last decade before India and Indians went crazy with greed and amassing material possessions!
The children growing up in today's world will never be able to experience the simple and care free life of those days!
Most of today's young generation looks at you with horror when you tell them that back then there were no smart phones or cable TV or internet or malls or foreign brands and so on!
