Apart from pointing out the very obvious gender biases she points out, evidently it seems the author is disgusted with the Indian culture and way of life.
Perhaps she should then be in the US, where the visiting mom in law will tell her that she has a date with a 20 year old and she will take it as real gender independence ???? Wow some bullshit

I think you are living in the past. Widow remarriagesa are happening without any hitch. Women walk out on abusive husbands without much fuss..i am not sure which society or culture you are talking about here. It is definitely not about Hindus. Hinduism accepts changes and the doesn't issue death threats to anyone who tries to talk about the ills
