Yup. Had shock of my life when I saw people taking bath on median and then realized there are worse things done in public.

This is simply a very dirty, smelly, overcrowded city where human life and hardships have no values. Why do people work as normal, even when 100 people died in a blast previous night / 1000 people drowned? There is no other option. Work all the time, just to survive. Good life is enjoyed by 1% south mumbai elites. For the rest, it is survival in this this huge slum called Mumbai.

tch tch, so many jealous people who care only to bring Mumbai down. Please focus on what makes your city great and you will see Mumbai is not very different than your city, heck, Mumbai IS your city!!

other cities - noone is claiming them to be newyork or london, because we all know the reality of our cities. but somehow, m0mbaikars all think that m0mbai is new york. Fact is that m0mbai is just a sh!t place, overcrowded, no infrastructure, no quality of life, w0rst city in the w0rld

Real reasons

"14. You call your employer, your auto driver, your canteen boy the same thing -- Boss"

Because it is quite possible in Mumbai that the auto driver or the canteen boy can become your actual boss someday!

“13. You call the traffic cop Pandu...”

In private and not to a traffic cop’s face unless you want to really get into trouble!
It is surprising that no officer from the Mumbai police has taken offense to point number 13 yet!

“12. You look down on people who say they are from Mumbai when they are in fact from Thane and Navi Mumbai”

This is only done by North Indian people who have recently started living in Mumbai after clawing their way into the city by doing unspeakable ‘castingCouchLike’ things to live in Mumbai!
For original Mumbaikars all newbies are North_Indian_Scum and not even worth looking down on!

“11. You truly believe you live in the greatest city in the world”

After doing unspeakable ‘castingCouchLike’ things to live in Mumbai you better tell yourself it is the greatest city to live in!

“10. When you say things like 'Let's head to town', you expect your non-Mumbaikar friend to know exactly what the hell you're talking about”

Is your non-Mumbaikar friend a village bumpkin?

“9. When your cousin from Pune first told you they didn't have local trains, you asked her: But how do you travel?!?”

Pune is not on Mars and you are a m0r0n if you think there are no other modes of public transportation.
Only people in Mumbai enamored with its local trains are migrants from UP and Bihar who get their H0m0jollies on these trains by groping other travelers in jam packed compartments!

“8. You consider Pune a suburb of Mumbai”

At the rate migrants from UP and Bihar are pouring into Mumbai, even Bangalore will be soon considered a suburb of Mumbai!

“7. You rarely ever call it CST”

This is only true in the case of older Mumbaikars! Newbies call it CST!

“6. It doesn't matter where you're going, you always must leave two hours in advance.”

This is nothing to be proud of!
It only means you could have saved two hours of your life everyday you lived in this city if these migrants from UP and Bihar had stopped pouring into the city at some point and let the public infrastructure catch up with its demand!

“5. If you get home at 9.30 from work, it's early for you.”

And the apocalypse is nearer than you think!
Or
The migrants from UP and Bihar had the day off from ruining the city!

“4. You report to work in knee-deep water every monsoon”

This is nothing to be proud of!
This is because of the migrants from UP and Bihar who keeping dumping garbage in the 100 plus year old storm water drainag

“3. You pull out your woolies when the mercury drops to... 24 degrees Celsius.”

This is because Mumbaikars are getting cooked for the other 10-11 months in 39 plus degree heat!

“2. You've never known what it is to drive on a pothole free road.”

Not entirely true! Roads are pothole free for the first few days after their inauguration!

“1. And the number one sign that you are from Mumbai is...”

This is again something that no longer applies to Mumbaikars! This used to happen in the past but not now with North Indian hordes of all shapes and sizes infesting the city! Mumbaikars have realized hating these people won’t help them get rid of these people!

Bombay boy and girl!
by shanti Patil on Jun 25, 2014 09:22 AM  | Hide replies

If you are Bombay boy you will never marry a Bombay girl. You will bring a girl from outside Bombay. If you are a Bombay girl you will marry boys who come to Bombay for jobs or education recently.

Mumbai is better than Delhi
by Deshbhakth Hindu on Jun 25, 2014 12:20 AM  | Hide replies

I have lived in Mumbai and now transferred to Delhi. Mumbai is better than Delhi. Delhiites have a false sense of superiority and are ever ready for a heated arguement. Mumbaikars are more cultured and down to earth.
But Delhi has better infrastructure than Mumbai because it is the capital.

Let’s see, Point number 14 is True It’s a good way of showing mutual respect without being formal , 13 is True, 12 is True, 11 is open to debate as it depends which area of Mumbai you live in,10 is on the dot , 9 is a myopic point, 8 is out right dumb Pune is not a suburb of Mumbai, 7 is spot on again ,old names stick, 6 is prefect 2 hours is the standard travel time in Mumbai.5 is not true anymore people have now started reaching home anywhere from 6:30 onwards as offices have moved northwards. Point number 4 no longer holds true after the deluge of 2007 as people now value life above all else. Point number 3 is dumb; we enjoy the cold weather that lasts for about 4 to 6 weeks as we can sleep with our windows open. Point number 2 is a sad reality of Mumbai and finally point number 1 is absolutely true ND is a city that is a freeloader
